# How to Bypass ASM Module

In **BIG-IP ASM v10.2.3** and later, the system includes two important configuration variables that help manage how the ASM module behaves:

* **Bypass Upon Load** (`bypass_upon_load`):
  * **Default**: Disabled. This prevents the ASM module from bypassing security policies immediately when loaded.
* **Bypass Upon ASM Down** (`bypass_upon_asm_down`):
  * **Default**: Disabled. This ensures that if the ASM module goes down, traffic will still be processed by the system.
